Maybe the sweetest time to hear the big band music at Devil’s Lake Chateau is at Sundown…

Of course, if you never get out of the water and go inside the Chateau, you’ll miss what has been called “Wisconsin’s most romantic dance hall”

Dancing at Devil’s Lake began in 1919 at Prader’s Pavilion located on the Lake’s North shore.  The Chateau was erected in 1925 and hosted many fine bands that provided dance music.  During the 1960’s and 1970’s, dance music was not a regular event in the park.  However, in 1986, the Hal Edwards Orchestra was hired by the Devil’s Lake Concession Corporation to play at the Devil’s Lake State Park 75th Year Anniversary Celebration.  The support of the Devil’s Lake Concession’s Corporation as well as enthusiastic crowds packing the Chateau have resulted in many years of great music and dancing.
